The Universal Genève Ferrovie dello Stato, known as “FS”, is a manual winding watch, designed between 1964 and 1975 for the employees of the Italian railways, the Ferrovie dello Stato. This model, refined for optimal precision, was developed to withstand the demanding conditions of railway work while offering exemplary reliability. Universal Genève, founded in 1894 and a reference in Swiss watchmaking, created a watch combining robustness and functional elegance, making it today a true timeless classic. The manual movement, typical of the 1960s, required daily winding, a feature that strengthens the bond between the wearer and their timepiece. Equipped with a sleek dial in enamel and a minimalist design, this watch has become a choice piece among vintage watch collectors, admired for its mechanical quality and its unique history. The Universal Genève Ferrovie dello Stato, produced in approximately 82,000 units, is much more than just an accessory: it embodies the perfect meeting between Swiss precision and the demands of the Italian railway network in the 1960s. The first watches, the Mark 1, measured 34mm. From the 70s, the model evolved with the Mark 2 and Mark 3 at 36mm, but always with the robust in-house caliber 84.
