Product Description

The Breitling Reference 1192 is a quintessential 1950s Swiss chronograph, highly regarded by collectors as the "Football" chronograph. This model represents the golden era of mechanical watchmaking, a time when timepieces transitioned from basic style accessories into critical precision instruments for timing, sports, and technical calculations.

The gold-plated case features elegant teardrop lugs and houses a beautifully preserved, white colored dial. Designed with a dual-register layout, the dial includes a running seconds sub-dial on the left and a 30-minute chronograph counter on the right—complete. Encircling the dial are detailed telemetric and tachymetric scales, which allowed professionals of the era to compute speed and distance on the fly.

Beneath the stainless steel case back lies the mechanical heart of the watch: the legendary Venus 188 caliber. This 17-jewel, manual-wind movement introduced a highly reliable cam-switching system, a major horological milestone that made precision chronographs more accessible and eventually paved the way for the famous Valjoux 7730. The movement is authentic, clearly stamped with the BREITLING signature on the bridge. Complete with the classic script Breitling logo and the reference number 1192 engraved on the back, this timepiece stands as a beautifully preserved, highly collectible fragment of mid-century Swiss horological history.
